This killer track, one of the biggest in French touch’s history, helped Versatile records to grew up
The sound is pretty fat, the release is damn awesome, it is a great shot from Versatile back in the day! Gilb’R with Rico and remixes from DJ Gregory and I:Cube, made a real bomb for dancefloors, to me it is a must have ever !
Few words about the record
Back to 2012, Gilbert Cohen, aka DJ Gilb’R, prepares the 15th birthday of his label, Versatile, and take a time to answers to France Info‘s questions, then he has some words about this record :
– Your best memory, the best anecdote about Versatile?
In 1996, at the time of Versatile’s second EP, the song Venus, I asked La Funk Mob (aka Boombass and Philippe Zdar from Cassius) to do a remix for the release. They tell me OK and then finally they can’t anymore. I was annoyed. I knew Dj Gregory well who was starting to make sounds. I explain it to him and he says to me “I come to your house, I look in your records and if I find something good I will do it”. In my disco, he came across “Happy People” by Brass Construction and he made the remix in 3-4 days. At first I was a little doubtful, and then it became huge. He even found himself programmed on NRJ. The consecration (laughs). It allowed the label to have more notoriety and it also served to launch Dj Gregory.
