In Something, Shirley Bassey makes classics like The Beatles’ Something and Sinatra’s My Way her own, offering powerful, unique interpretations that reinforce her place among music’s greatest voices

Released in 1970, Something is marking a major turning point in Shirley Bassey’s career. The album stands out for its bold mix of pop and rock covers, reflecting the musical evolution of the time. Her voice, among many others, is one of the most known worldwide. Shirley Bassey was Born in a section of Cardiff, Wales, that was then referred to as « Tiger Bay ». At that time, Tiger Bay was a multi-ethnic, working-class community comprised of people from all over the world. This album not only strengthened Shirley Bassey’s position in the music industry, but also broadened her audience by exploring a variety of musical genres. For a full listen, “Something” is available to stream on Spotify. I found this record on a small open air market, even if I don’t listen to it that often, I like it in the morning…
