In 1980, Yello made a notable debut with Solid Pleasure, an innovative album where electro-pop and experimental sounds meet, announcing the start of a pioneering career

The album reveals Yello‘s unique sound. The creativity of the duo, consisting of Dieter Meier and Boris Blank, is manifested in the use of sampling and sound effects innovative for the time, contributing to their status as pioneers of electro. They did their first EP in 1979 (« I.T. Splash/Glue Head »), then Solid Pleasure album came out on Ralph Records (a label from San Francisco – « The Residents »). This paved the way for the band’s recognition on the international stage and laid the foundation for their sophisticated, avant-garde style, which was further developed in their subsequent albums.
